My Job
I joined DGA as a partner in the sustainability and mobility team a year ago. Working with a group of talented, funny and great professionals is a real pleasure.
My Experience
Having a background as a Spanish Lawyer has helped me in my career. I started in a Spanish Lawfirm Cuatrecasas , then worked in different sectors including a tech start up and an African NGO AMREF. Then, I moved to Brussels to become a consultant in public affairs where I worked for 8 years in the environmental and social issues in Burson (formerly known as Bruson Marsteller). When I became the secretary general of a global NGO Make Mothers Matter in the Brussels office, I worked to defend the rights of mothers in the workplace and in an EU research project CIRC4Life in the circular economy. Then, I became an independent consultant on circular economy and in particular on packaging and on digital issues working for Lighthouse Europe for a year.
My Specialisms
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement was to advocate to have the right to request flexible working conditions in the work life balance Directive which was adopted in 2019. Being a mother of 3 children, it was very important to me to have the flexibility to do telework and adjust my working hours to my family needs.
My Education
I studied Law in Spain in the Autonoma University and then in San Pablo CEU University in Madrid. Then a Masters in EU law at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles with a specialisation in EU Competition Law.
My Languages
Spanish, English, French, Italian, German and Portuguese.
My Interests outside work
I like outdoor sports: skiing, padel, cycling, and I have just started playing field Hockey. I also enjoy travelling specially in SouthEast Asia, zero waste cooking and jazz and baroque music.
My Favourite Brussels anecdote
When I tell people that I work in EU affairs they think I work in the Commission or the Parliament. Then, I tell them “I work the Commission and the Parliament but not for them”.
